I photographed this artichoke flower a couple of years ago at our local San Diego County Fair in Del Mar, California. The show was indoors so there wasn't that much ambient light. I used camera settings that let the background go dark, and then lit the flower with a hand held Yongnuo strobe in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box at camera right at about 5 o'clock and pointing up.
