David Hooker / Hooker Pottery on Instagram: "A behind the scenes look at how I photograph my pottery. I struggled with photographing my work for a long time, and I tried a lot of fancy (and rather expensive) set-ups. But what I use now is simple. You can get all the parts online for under $100 USD, and it works with a phone camera. (I have a nice Sony camera and tripod that I’m using here, because honestly, it takes slightly better photos than my phone. But even my older phone works well with this set up.)

One other tip: eliminate any extra lighting in the room if you can. I was taking these in the morning on an overcast day, so the light in the room is minimal. I love to shoot at night so there’s no light at all.
