The United States M3 Lee tank was named after the Confederate general Robert E. Lee. The M3 first saw action in World War 2 in 1941. A total of 6,258 of the tanks were manufactured. Tanks were considered high tech weaponry during World War 1. However, to modern eyes the tanks developed during "the War to End All Wars" have an odd, almost Steampunk look.
