Nuclear membrane

Explore the role and composition of the nuclear membrane in cell biology. Learn how this crucial barrier regulates the movement of molecules and protects the genetic material within the nucleus.
An essential component of metazoan cells. Next to providing mechanical support to the Nucleus, its involved in most nuclear activities including: DNA replication, DNA repair, RNA transcription, chromatin organization, cell cycle regulation, cell development and differentiation, nuclear migration, and apoptosis. Its composed of intermediate filaments and membrane associated proteins. What is Endoplasmic Reticulum The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a network of membrane-bound organelle distributed throughout the cytoplasm of the eukaryotic cell. It is mainly concerned with membrane biogenesis, biosynthesis, processing, and transport of proteins and lipids. It is called ‘endoplasmic,’ as it is more concentrated in the inner side of the cytoplasm (endoplasm) than […]

Nucleus is the largest organelle in eukaryotic cells. It is surrounded by two membranes. Each one is a phospholipid bilayer containing many different types of proteins. The inner nuclear membrane defines the nucleus itself. In many cells the outer nuclear membrane is continuous with the rough ER and therefore the space between the inner and outer nuclear membrane is continuous with the lumen of the rough ER. The 2 nuclear membranes appear to fuse at the nuclear pores. These ring like pores are Phospholipid Bilayer, Nuclear Membrane, Eukaryotic Cell, Cell Division, Protein Synthesis, The Space, Different Types, Ring
