Doing a quick evening sketch it suddenly strikes me, you probably never heard of Näcken. Näcken is a being/creature in Scandinavian folklore with cousins in Germanic stories and distant relatives in British lore too. But since neither the brothers Grimm, nor H.C. Andersen ever wrote of him he has stayed in the gloomy dusk away from popular culture as far as I know. All the same, he is well known to both Swedes and Norwegians and he appears in many different versions in different regions.
