This is the Nicene Creed (the version that is in the BCP). One of the most important statements of faith in the Church.

Apostles Creed

The Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds are both ancient with roots tracing back to the very beginning of the church. The church has selected, in her wisdom, the two creeds to be recited on different occasions.

The Nicene Creed: The statement of faith created at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD listing what was agreed to as the *minimum* beliefs one had to hold in order to consider themselves a Christian.
