In 1880 prolific real estate developer Ira E. Doying commenced construction on three upscale rowhouses at Nos. 6 through 10 East 67th Street, just east of Fifth Avenue. Doying had commissioned architect James E. Ware to design the residences. Architects working in the Queen Anne style most often produced rows of harmonious houses that complimented one another, yet boasted their own personalities.
