A few years ago, when the pandemic was in full swing, our family grew from one of five to six. I had recently opened a brick-and-mortar homewares shop, my husband, Andrew, was working from home, and the kids were doing virtual learning. We were brimming and knew we needed to expand or make significant structural changes to our current dwelling here in the Midwest.
