The way it is understood is by the first letter of each syllable. Ex. 하이 (ha-ee = hi) - They’re only using the first two letters: ㅎ & ㅇ Some of them are more like sounds rather than actual words. ㅋㅋ = kk/keke - which is snickering (laughing)
