Cassandra Litz on Instagram: "Lots of questions on the custom dark stain color and the wood species of this new construction kitchen island. First off, I’m impressed and so proud of how many have asked about the wood species! 👏🏼 IYKYK! This island wood species is birch! The trick is when you go dark with stain you don’t HAVE to upgrade the wood species. It’s definitely more challenging to go lighter stain with birch and it can look very blotchy unless you go with a more full coverage stain. We have a custom light stain that is perfection on birch and maple that I’ll share sometime.
