Kantha embroidery 🪡

The traditional folk art is famous as Kantha which means 'Patched cloth'. The original Kantha is double faced where the design appeared identical on either sides of the fabric. The great length of stitch is broken into tiny tacking's which gives almost a dotted appearance on either sides of the quilt like "Do rukha". Sometimes the embroidery is so finely done that it is very difficult to identify the wrong side.

Hello all, Today i am going to continue my investigation into the Provençal Costume by talking about something which may be surprising in such a warm climate, namely, quilted clothing. Quilted clothing is extremely widespread, as far as China, being a practical way to produce warm clothing.
