Remembering Jane Greer who died on this day 17 years ago (born Bettejane Greer; September 9, 1924 – August 24, 2001) was an American film and television actress who was perhaps best known for her role as femme fatale Kathie Moffat in the 1947 film noir Out of the Past.

Jane Greer was an American actress who appeared in films and TV from the 1940s onwards, sometimes referred to as the "queen of film noir."

Female Faces of Film Noir, Part II

Forgive me for breaking the timeline, but I wanted to note that today is the birthday of Jane Greer, one of my all-time favorite actresses and the only femme fatale in the grand history of film noir I'd let shoot me. She'd be 86 today if she were still kicking it. No doubt I'll write about her at length come 1947 when she starred with Robert Mitchum in Out Of The Past, but in the meantime, drink in one of the greatest entrances in movie history:
