How to heal shame

Letting go of shame can be one of the most difficult things we have to do when healing. It’s important to know that if you are holding shame over things that were done to you, or things that you had no control over, that shame is not for you to carry.

Shadow work focusing on shame involves confronting the deep-seated feelings that tell us we are fundamentally flawed or unworthy of love and belonging. This work can help us understand the origins of our shame, how it affects our lives, and how we can begin to heal.

In the moment, this might be the safest thing to do, but after the moment has passed it can be productive to re-visit what happened and the feeling of shame that came with it.
