Grandma's Sloppy Joes recipe: Quick and easy to make, and delicious too! These were a family tradition, when we were growing up. My maternal grandmother made them for almost every family gathering. Grandma's Sloppy Joes... This recipe is similar to the way I have always made sloppy joes, although I think I'll use tomato sauce instead of juice, and I love that it uses oats / oatmeal! This recipe came from my grandma--one of the few we found written down! I grew up eating these sloppy joes as a kid and now my own kids love them too. Add the oatmeal in small portions and slowly--it doesn't take a whole lot. If you choose, you can also used minced onion to taste--works well if you need to cook more quickly!
