Around 1890s, leg o’ mutton sleeve (also known as the gigot sleeve) were super popular. In that era, people focused on from skirt fullness to sleeves. As Hannah mentioned, in the 1890s, this sleeve saw a brief renaissance as women again relied upon its shape to balance out their fashionably full skirts. The outfit was for sporting, and outdoorsy.
