Bringing together 150 paintings by 80 artists from across the globe, this ambitious exhibition celebrates the women artists of mid-20th-century gestural abstraction. The exhibition reveals how these international artists were redefining abstract painting as an arena for action, process and politics in the aftermath of the Second World War, each endowing gestural abstraction with their own specific cultural contexts.
