The main reason why International Rules Football Test matches came about was due to the similarities of Australian Rules Football and Gaelic Football to one another, certainly related to kicking goals, etc. So this was launched in the late 1990s, with Test Matches played in Ireland one year, Australia the next year, vice versa. Here we see a Test Match being played in Melbourne between Australia and Ireland.
