This flint corn was grown for seed during Summer 2021.

Seriously, it's too pretty to eat.

Imagine corn on the cob that naturally tastes creamy and buttery — no added fat required. Native Americans bred such a variety, but its kernels were almost lost to history. Now one chef is bringing back the heirloom corn — and hoping it will serve as a lesson in what can happen when crops are bred to be flavorful and colorful, not just big.

Glass Gem Corn is the most beautiful corn in the world. Extremely rare, this unique strain of flint corn was developed by Carl Barnes, who, before his passing, gave these seeds to friends who shared his passion in gardening. These seeds come directly from our small farm here in Fallsington, PA. We have been growing and breeding corn varieties for years and it has been a pleasure to work with Glass Gem.
