I've always wanted a breakfast bar in our kitchen, so naturally, when planning the layout of our kitchen, I was determined to make it work. We got our cupboards used off of kijiji and designed it so that we had a peninsula that we could make into a breakfast bar. Six months older and several dollars poorer, we finished the kitchen renovation, complete with DIY concrete countertops and reclaimed wood accents.

The Frenton family recently finished the basement in their house, including a kitchen area. They did black stone countertops on the majority of the white cabinets, but they were looking for more of a statement on the peninsula. They weren't sure exactly what they were looking for, but knew they liked what we had done with some bar carts and with our own coffee bar.
