Stereotypes is defined as a "Fixed, formalized, or standardized (and therefore perhaps false) phrase, idea, [or] belief". Stereotypes can be seen as part of the taken-for-granted knowledge passed on as part of the socialization process. Film-makers often rely on stereotypes, because they are a simple way to establish a character.
