Corgarff Castle, Grampian, Scotland
Corgarff Castle can be seen from the A92, Ballater to Tomintoul road in the Upper Strathdon region (Aberdeenshire) Scotland. It was probably built for John Forbes of Towie about 1550 in what was then one of the most wild and remote districts of Scotland. In November 1571 the brother of the earl of Huntly, a supporter of the deposed Mary, Queen of Scots, arrived at the castle with a group of soldiers with the intention of taking it for the queen.
