Well suited to level ground, but can be adapted to sloping ground. Radial: Directs flow from a common center. Beltways allow through traffic to bypass the center to alleviate congestion. Linear: Useful where development is restricted by natural topography (narrow valley) or parallels with existing transportation artery (railroad, freeway).
