For most, tattoos seem like an artistic way to cover your body with stories, say, spice things up a bit (of course, moms will most likely tell you it's a job liability that won't do you any good in life). But for people whose skin is already covered with stories of their own - tattoos mean so much more than that.

Tattoos mean different things to different people around the world. For some they're nothing more than a fashion statement, while others get them for cultural reasons, like the Māori for instance. Many get them as a memento of a time, place, or person. But some people choose to get a tattoo for an entirely different reason, such as to cover up a scar for example.

“Chicks dig scars,” is something I often heard growing up, and strangely enough, this weird generalization helped me to accept and embrace the scar I had foolishly gotten myself above my right eye.
