Beauty marks made possible by the use of face patches. This fashion, popular in the 18th century, was most likely a saving grace to the woman whose face had become pock marked....but a little funny in the 21st century. Strategically placed on the face of a woman, these patches sent an unspoken message. They were made of silk, taffeta, leather and velvet. and women carried them in small patch boxes.
