Here's Why Day Three of the Royal Ascot Is Called Ladies’ Day
The third day of the Royal Ascot, the Gold Cup, coincides with what is colloquially known as ‘Ladies’ Day,’ a term first used in 1823. An anonymous poet described the day as "Ladies' Day... when the women, like angels, look sweetly divine."
