I have some more tips for those recovering from foot and ankle surgery. I recently had some screws taken out, so I am speaking from fresh experience. :)

Gross! Nasty dead skin after 2 weeks in a splint followed by 6 weeks in a cast. The blue marks were left on my leg from the initial surgery and tape was put on 2 weeks after surgery to hold incision spot together. A warm bath with Epson Salt and carefully applying a small amount of Dead Sea salt to my foot, leg and ankle while in the bathtub got rid of almost all of the dead skin.
