BMW advertisements appealed to "yuppies" throughout the 1980s. "Yuppies" loved to spend money, and high class goods such as luxury vehicles were right up their alley. These ads added to the materialistic views of those living throughout the 80s, but they also were apart of the extravagant theme that Americans saw in movies and on TV. Spending money and imitating celebrities were so important to Americans that BMW and other luxury vehicles became popular in the 1980s.
