Early 14th century MEDIEVAL CLOTHING....476-1492....women wore multiple layers starting with a smock/chemise, a kyrtle/cotte, a gown/bliaut, surcote, veil, and mantle/cloak...included the basic tunics of the 10th & 11th century, the cottes and bliauts of the 12th & 13th centuries, the fitted kirtles, gowns and surcotes of the 14th & 15th centuries to the massive houppelands and Burgundian gowns of the later 15th century
