Sea Snails in Coconut Milk (Ốc Len Xào Dừa) — Vicky Pham
My favorite street food snack is sea snails in spicy coconut milk (Oc Len Xao Dua). Cooked in coconut milk with fresh lemon grass, garlic, Vietnamese Coriander (Rau Ram) and chili, this dish is packed full of flavors. The fun part of the dish is extracting the snail from the shell.
Bánh Mì Recipe - Vietnamese Sandwiches w/ Pork Belly - Hungry Huy
Originally designed as on-the-go street food, bánh mì is packed with flavor, a touch of fat balanced with light pickles, delicious and super affordable. When you can get it with fresh bread, it is unmatched. The Vietnamese bánh mì is a must-have for any sandwich lover.

Bò Lúc Lắc Recipe (Vietnamese Shaking Beef) - Hungry Huy
Seared, fatty ribeye with aromatic onions paired with the sweet and citric flavors of tomato rice. Can you feel your mouth watering? Bò lúc lắc is a very accessible dish because it has the familiar taste of steak and onions with a twist. It’s most popularly called “shaking beef,” but makes more sense as “shaken beef” to me (because it’s obviously not quivering on the plate).

Chè Thái Recipe (Vietnamese Fruit Cocktail) - Hungry Huy
A spoonful of sweet lychee bites, jackfruit slices, chewy jellies, and ice cold coconut milk, sounds refreshing doesn’t it? Chè Thái is more than just a sweet soup or fruit cocktail, it’s a dessert that packs in a lot of flavor in just one bite. Luckily, this dessert is super simple to make because the use of canned tropical fruit makes it readily available and you can customize it based on the different fruits you prefer.

Bun Moc – Vietnamese Pork and Mushroom Noodle Soup
Bun moc is a vermicelli noodle soup made from a pork and shiitake mushroom infused broth. The meats commonly include pork paste balls made from gio song (raw pork sausauge), cha lua (pork sausage—which is gio song that has been wrapped in banana leaves and boiled). Taken all together, this is a delicious, earthy, yet light noodle soup that’s very popular in the northern parts of Vietnam, but can also be found throughout the country.
Vietnamese Avocado Smoothie Recipe (Sinh Tố Bơ) - Hungry Huy
This smoothie recipe puts avocados in the dessert category with its rich, nutty flavor and extra chunky texture that’s made by using frozen Haas avocados. Avocados were originally introduced to Vietnam by the French and became fairly popular ever since. During my recent trip to Vietnam, I noticed an abundance of street vendors selling avocado shakes and smoothies (sinh tố bơ), which piqued my interest in making this recipe.

Pandan Waffle Recipe (Bánh Kẹp Lá Dứa) - Hungry Huy
Any waffle lover can attest to the intoxicating aroma of waffles hot off the iron. This pandan waffle recipe takes it up a notch (and in a Vietnamese / southeast Asian direction) with its sweet aroma of pandan, rich coconutty taste, chewy mochi center, and a crispy outer texture.

Pâté Chaud Recipe (Patê Sô / Vietnamese Meat Pastries) - Hungry Huy
Pâté chaud, or bánh patê sô, is a flaky, buttery, and piping hot savory meat pie that goes great with a cup of Vietnamese coffee. This is very similar to the popular Australian hand pies. They are the perfect on the go snack or even an at-your-own-leisure with coffee snack at home! This recipe gives you steamy pâté chaud at home that you can share with friends and family when the cravings hit.

Vietnamese Spicy Lemongrass Chicken (Gà Xào Sả Ớt) - Hungry Huy
Gà xào sả ớt is an aromatic blend of chile sauce, lemongrass, tender chicken, and veggies, but more importantly it’s a fast and easy, one-pot dish that you can make during the week. Also known as Vietnamse spicy lemongrass chicken, this dish is more commonly made at-home in Vietnam vs. restaurants (even though it was the most popular dish at my mom’s Vietnamese restaurant).

Bo la lot – Betel Leaf Wrapped Beef
Bo la lot is beef wrapped in betel leaves which are typically grilled over a charcoal flame and is served as part of bo bay mon (seven courses of beef), with bun (vermicilli noodles), wrapped in lettuce rolls, wrapped in rice paper as a spring roll, or served on it’s own as appetizers.
Vietnamese Bánh Canh Giò Heo Tôm (Thick Noodles w/ Pork & Shrimp)
Bánh canh giò heo tôm might be a lesser known Vietnamese soup compared to the highly popularized phở, but its hearty flavor paired with springy tapioca noodles, and a load of meat and shrimp makes it just as delicious. This dish can seem similar to bún bò Huế, but it uses different noodles, is less spicy and quite a bit heavier with the use of pork stock and thicker noodles.

Chicken Liver Pâté Recipe (Great for Vietnamese Bánh Mì) - Hungry Huy
This creamy and rich chicken liver pâté recipe is full of buttery, fatty flavor and amazing to eat with even just a slice of baguette. You will most likely see Vietnamese pâté in bánh mì and it’s the perfect amount of extra flavor that boosts the sandwich’s flavor. This recipe is easy to follow and will give you extra batches to share with friends and family (or to make tons of bánh mì).
