However, it can be achieved through various exercises targeting each requirement for a good and strong handstand press-up. One such requirement is leg compression into the chest. Compression involves the ability to pull your legs with active flexibility towards your chest while keeping your ribcage in and maintaining a flexion in your spine that gives your back a rounded appearance. A good exercise for this starts with your feet elevated on yoga blocks, passing one leg at a time through your hands while maintaining compression. This provides a clear goal for how high your legs should be and how close to your chest they need to be to pass through your hands. Aim for 5 repetitions with each leg, trying to hold for 3 seconds once your foot has passed your hands. The goal is not speed but to achieve as deep a compression as possible.
