Missy Luukkonen on Instagram: "Hey! Hey! I am just a girl who loves to sew and help you learn the tips and tricks that makes the things that seem hard, sew much easier! I am here today with my top 3 binding tips that make adding binding to your project so simple!! I actually have 4- bonus tip at the end!! 1- Make a pocket at the beginning. Fold over the raw edge 45° and only sew down 1 layer of the binding for the first 2-3 inches. The close the “pocket” and continue sewing. 2- When mitering the corners, sew off each corner at a 45° angle. This helps you make great mitered corners! 3- Glue baste your binding to the back! Stop messing with pins. Use the water soluble glue and your iron. The iron heat sets the glue, and no it will not gum up your needle! Now there is no need to mess w
Kaycee | Modern Quilt Pattern Designer & Writer on Instagram: "Here’s my favorite way to bind a quilt! It’s so nice because I usually always have strips of fabric left over after I make my quilt. At Christmas, I made a candy cane binding using this same method, and it is just so fun. A few notes: -There are so many different options. Your strips don’t even have to be the same width. I did 2.5” here, but I have also done quilts where I alternated 1.5” and 3” strips. -it helps to starch and press before cutting your first strips because the fabric is cut on the bias, which makes it a little stretchy. My favorite is @magicfabriccare as you can see in the background! -I pressed to the side in this video, but I find that the seams are much flatter when you press open, so that’s what I reco

Annie Stafford - Learn to sew on Instagram: "❗️This is my most requested sewing hack ❗️ By pinching the top thread as you sew, this causes the fabric to gather up behind the sewing machine foot to make for perfect gatehring everytime. 🦋 Thread up you machine as normal Pull both top thread and bobbin thread to the back, make sure to leave a long tail. This will come in handy latter when you are attaching the gathering to your sewing project and you want to increase or decrease the gathers. 🦋 Increase the stitch length to the highest number, mine goes up to 4. Place your fabric underneath your sewing machine foot and start sewing. 🦋 Do not backstitch. 🦋 As you sew, pinch the top thread as it comes off the spool, this causes tentsion in the thread, allowing it to bunch up behind the
Julija Gobere on Instagram: "My favourite way to hem jeans🤩🙌 This method is very simple and quick, but creates beautiful results both on the outside and inside🤗 A few notes for better results: 🧵 Use Jeans needle or higher size sewing machine needle; 🧵 I like to use thicker contrasting color thread to create that signature jeans look; 🧵 Sew with a bit longer stitch (I usually sew using 4mm stitches, instead of regular 2.5mm stitch). Let me know if you’d like to see more alteration how-to’s!🤗 #sewingtutorial #howtosew #alterations #sewingmachine"
ONLINE CLOTHES MAKING COURSES on Instagram: "If your sleeve curve is a bit longer than your armhole curve - you have a PERFECT sleeve pattern, it is supposed to be this way. There’s nothing wrong with it, you don’t need to change it - this is sleeve ease and it allows you to move. 1-2cm for non-stretchy fabric is a pretty standard ease. If you try to stretch the armhole by 2cm, you might struggle. But with crimping of the sleeve itself - they will be “gone”. It is the most simple & fastest way to fit a sleeve. Get that unfinished shirt from the back of your wardrobe and give it a go! You don’t need to gather under arm, only the top of the sleeve 👍 #crimping #sewingsleeves #sewingtricks #patterndrafting #sewing"
