Alma Road Residence by Studiofour using Dulux Fernhill
The proportions and ornate detailing of the original period home have been restored, and the moody nature of these spaces emphasized. In contrast to these existing compartmentalised volumes, a glass bridge connects a new glass pavilion, the pavilion appearing to float over water, immersed within the surrounding landscape. The dark charcoal grey of Fernhill was used throughout the existing rooms and complemented by the lightness of Ōkārito in the new addition.
PHIVE - Community, Cultural and Civic Hub by DesignInc Sydney, Lacoste+Stevenson and Manuelle Gautra
PHIVE takes centre stage as a new community, cultural and civic centre including a library and council chambers in Parramatta. Dulux Duratec Elements was selected for its durable finish, colour retention, and matt surface to provide the least reflective finish at all angles including low-angle sun reflections. Duratec Zeus was also used in the project. The building takes inspiration from flora endemic to the area.
Hues of Mount Kunanyi by Ruby Shields - Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
The design colour scheme of Hues of Mount Kunanyi takes direct inspiration from the eucalyptus trees that grow along the mountain range that looms over Hobart. Their green leaves and blue oil haze hues are displayed through the chosen colours which dominate the room. The blue and green theme of the space enhances the organic and angular shapes, which are a dominant feature throughout the room reflecting all facades of the mountain and the diversity of the natural landscape.
The Canopy Bench by Augustina Binyamin, Victoria University of Wellington using Dulux Hog Bristle®
The Canopy Bench is designed to emulate the forest where trees come together to create a canopy to perch. The project explores the linearity of a tree trunk that expands to create the forest canopy. By taking design influence from the forest, a certain natural context is abstracted and used as a blueprint for design. Bringing together the image and perception of nature through the forest. The neutral colour was chosen for this bench.
Darebin Intercultural Centre by Sibling Architecture using Dulux Circus
The Darebin Intercultural Centre is a new community facility established to foster meaningful and constructive interracial, intercultural, and interfaith relations between people who live, work and play in the City of Darebin, in Melbourne's inner north. The material palette is deliberately diverse with exposed brick, local timber, and the use of mirrors to reflect the community back onto itself and to remind people of their importance in inhabiting the spaces.
St James Theatre by Shand Shelton using Dulux Gold Vintage
The heritage-listed St James Theatre is Wellington’s premier lyric theatre and home to the Royal New Zealand Ballet. The 1912 building was identified as earthquake-prone in 2015, instigating the project to increase the complex’s overall strength. Due to its heritage value, artistic samples were applied in situ when finalising the colour scheme with adjustments made to consider authenticity, reflectivity values, and light balance to ensure the scheme would perform under actual theatre conditions
Postal Hall by Trower Falvo Architects with Alessio Fini using Dulux Duralloy® Mist Green
The Postal Hall bookshop is a demountable unit that provides flexibility for when the space is required for large events. Small, independent modules connect to form the bookshop as an ensemble. The interior featured tiered shelving and storage for the bookshop while the exterior provides an area for informal use by the public and surrounding tenancies.
Nightlight by Fabric Architecture (NZ) using Dulux Duralloy® Mist Green
Nightlight fills a small gap in a historic clearing of the kānuka belt wrapping around the town of Akaroa in Banks Peninsula, New Zealand. The polycarbonate structure enveloped in a lattice of timber with the beautifully soft matt Duralloy® Mist Green colour from the Dulux Powder Coatings' Duralloy® Solid Colour range mimics the surrounding kānuka trees.
