someone is adding chicken and vegetables in the crock pot to make it look like they are cooking
Easy Crockpot Chicken & Rice | rice, chicken meat, cooking | Easy Crockpot Chicken & Rice #recipes #cooking #yum | By Kyle & Mistie Knight | Add your rice to the bottom of your Crockpot. That is one and one half cups of uncooked dried brown rice. Now, we're going to add some veggies. This is about one cup of carrots and one cup of peas. These were frozen and thawed just a little bit but you could put them in frozen. Now, we're going to add some fresh chicken. This is two chicken breasts. Cut up. Here you go. We just got that spread around. Cups of chicken broth. Now, we are using the reduced sodium broth because we're going to make a healthier recipe today. Y'all have been requesting healthy so that's what I'm going to give you. We've got fresh chicken. We've got brown rice which is low with fiber and protein and we're using the reduced sodium broth and of course, we've got our veggies in there too. We're going to put this to the side because we need to add some more to our bowl to mix it. Now, we're going to take a can of the healthy request cream of chicken soup. This is got much less sodium than the regular kind. If you really want to make it even healthier, you could use your own broth and your own cream of soup. You could make your own version of that. We're going to pour those together 'cuz we're going to mix there's one of the thing I'm going to add and that is a little bit of Dijon mustard. It's upside down. And we're going to add just about a tablespoon of our Dijon mustard and that's optional. You can leave it out if you want to. Now, you're going to just mix that up and stir it up and that's going to go on top of our rice, chicken, and veggie mixture but there's one other thing that we're going to add to that because you know, every good recipe needs. Oh, cheese. Cheese. Is that my cookie? Can you get me some cheese please? Alright, cheese. Rachel, here. Good kitty. Good kitty. Okay, bad kitty. Bad kitty. Alright, here we go. Here's cheese. Here's cheese. Alright. We're going to take some cheese, dump that on top of our chicken, rice, and veggie mixture. I'm using about a cup. And now we're going to take liquid with the broth and the cream of chicken soup. That's going to get poured right on top. There we go. Now, we're going to add some seasonings. Let me know in the comments what seasoning you would add. Of course, I think we need to add some garlic powder. The garlic powder. Garlic powder. Alright. And I've got some poultry seasoning. It's got some thyme and sage and black pepper and nutmeg. Just a little bit of that to give it some nice flavoring. Now, I'm going to take my spatula and just stir that up a bit. There we go. Get that stirred up. Now, we are going to be cooking this on high for two to three hours but the truth is cooking varies when it comes to these Crockpots. It depends on how big your Crockpot is. Ours is a four quart may depend on how many of the ingredients you use, different models, cook at different speeds, and also if you're taking that lid off and peaking every 5 minutes, that's going to make the whole process take longer as well. So, do your best to keep the lid on and bear with me because the timing will vary on this but we're going to shoot for two to three hours on high. Now, while our chicken and rice is cooking, I'm going to show you all a magic trick using this jar of white rice and this chopstick. If you didn't know, Kyle and I are magicians. We've actually performed all over the world to like 83 different 85 different countries now. We just hit some new ones and we're going to take this jar of rice and show you something really cool with it. I'm just placing the chopstick right down in the middle. Okay. Okay. All the way to the bottom. Now watch this part. Cast the magic spell. What? How are you doing that? And look you can spin it all around. How are you? No strings. Nothing like that. So this is floating rice. Alright so that's just a chopstick in the rice. It's not like magnets in it or anything. No magnets. Okay. How are you doing this? You want me to prove it to you. I'll take the I'll take it out. There's nothing in there. Alright. This is just a really cool trick. Chop sticks out. Chop stick there. I know y'all are skeptical, right? Okay, what was inside there? Absolutely nothing but rice. How did you do that? Isn't that cool? Would you guys like to know how to do this? Yes, absolutely. Hit that thumbs up and if you see a bunch of those come in, I think we'll share the secret for this one because we like y'all. I think we're going to go ahead and do it. Alright, I'm filling my rice bottle back up again and I'm going to tell you exactly how we do this trick now. The secret is that you really have to tap that bottle so that the gets compacted in there. Get as much as you can in there. You like overfill it. Overfill it. And then tap it. Tap it. And you should probably do this over a sink. Are you going to clean that up? Yeah sorry. Alright. And it's also important the kind of bottle that you use. This is a a glass bottle with a tapered neck. You want a tapered neck? Okay. Alright. You think I've compacted it enough? Yeah, I think so. See? Alright, you just press it down so it just kind of really has to be overfilled. And that is the secret behind this. This is actually a really cool magic trick but it's just attributed to science and physics. We're going to take that chopstick and stick it in there. Okay. And press it all the way down and watch this. That's it. That's it. It works. It just so you. Every time because the compression of the rice just kind of hugs that chopstick There you go. That's a fun trick for them. They can try that for their friends and family. Try this at home. Let me know in the comments if you want us to show you more tricks like this in our videos and we will. Alright y'all our chicken and rice and veggies. Dinner is ready. I stopped to stir it halfway through and then about five minutes ago I stirred it once more and then I sprinkled some cheese on top and let me tell you it turned out perfect. The rice is nice and fluffy. Now you want to use the long grain brown rice for this. Don't substitute it for white because it won't turn out as good. The the whole grain brown rice just seems to stay heartier as the slow cooker works. It's magic. But I think it's time for the taste test. Are you ready for this? I'm excited. Look at how goodness looks. Whoa. That is a dump and go set it and forget it. Yummy and healthy meal. We actually put together a healthy meal here and I can't wait to taste it. We've got our chicken. We've got our brown rice. We've got veggies. I use the low sodium broth and the low sodium soup and we add whatever spices you so I'm going to plate this up. This looks so good. Look at that. Look at the rice. Yes, it cooked it perfectly y'all. Rice. You didn't even have to do anything. You just stir it once in the middle. Oh my gosh. I can't wait to try this. This looks so good. Taste test time. Kyle, you going to have some? I'm coming. I'm coming over right now. Got a piece of chicken. Got some carrots. Alright, here we go. Mm. Is it hot? Mhm. Uh that's I'm not noone will bite you. Oh wow. Alright. Got some chicken too. Mhm. Hot. It's good though, right? It's good. Isn't that great? Mhm. Honestly, it's a very simple dish. You could you could spice this up, make it even give it a little kick if you want to add some different spices to it. Add some more garlic. Customize this however you'd like. But the point is you can throw some chicken and veggies and rice in the crock pot and have dinner ready for you in two to three hours. This was three hours and it turned out perfect. Who knew?
