Regular Corn Bread #whitelilypartner White Lily Baking | By Cooking with Brenda Gantt | Okay the sweet potatoes are cooking and now I'm going to make the cornbread. So I guess got a medium sized pan. I greased it real good with some Crisco. And I've got me some self-rising cornmeal mix. And this is kind of I'm using. Uh I don't know if you can find this kind in your steak. If you can't I'm sorry but this is what I'm using. It's the whitelily. It's got the it's called the buttermilk kind. Um but anyway it's self-rising. And the reason I like to use self-rising is I don't have to add anything. So I've I've got at and what I'm going to do is I'm just going to add one egg and look at this. This is at I've got some double yolk eggs y'all. Look at that. Ain't that beautiful? So you may want to add you two eggs. Take your buttermilk and I'm going to shake it up a little bit. Put it in there. I don't know how much. I'll show you the consistency. Beat your egg up. And then alright now we'll do it around. I might have to add a little more buttermilk if it looks dry. You don't need a recipe. I probably got I don't know how much cornmeal. I just took this food and put two or three big servings of it in there. I probably got a three fourths a cup or something like that. And then I put some more buttermilk in it because it wasn't soupy enough. I'm going to cook this on the four seventy-five. I normally cook it on 400. But this time I'm not. I'm going to cook it on four seventy-five because I'm trying to get it done. I don't have all day fruit with it. I'm a little bit more then I'll show the consistency of it, okay? You know I use a lot of buttermilk y'all. And the the one of the main reasons I'm making this to go with our collards and pork chops and sweet potatoes is because Banks last night at the we had a a Christmas festivities. But anyway she's saying Big Momma would you please make some cornbread tomorrow so I can have milk and bread. She crumbles this up. That's cornbread in her glass and pours sweet milk over it. Now I like buttermilk or sweet milk over mine. Here's your consistency see? See? And you just pour it in your pan and that is cornbread. That's one kind of cornbread. I've already shown y'all several kinds on the Cooking with Brenda videos on Facebook. On Facebook is where you'll find me and Instagram. You'll find me on there too. Alright, here it is and I'm going to pop it in the oven let it cook. Okay. But anyway last night we went to down to Candyland in Andalusia had a really good time and the First Baptist Church put on a live nativity. It was a drive by live nativity. And y'all it was absolutely wonderful. They had done so much planning and they had CDs for you to put in your car or you could do something. I don't you do it but banks knew how and we could hear them talking and it told the story of before Jesus was born and that kind of thing and then you drive by and it have that scene then you drive to the next scene it would have the shepherds and the next scene you know and and you just keep driving and each scene it would tell you what you were looking at they had a live camel and donkeys and all the people were dressed up in the way they're supposed to be dressed back in those days or the way they were dressed. And it was just great. A lot of time. And a lot of work went into that. And they did an excellent job. It was so wonderful. And the cars were lined up coming through. And it lasted two hours and they did it on Friday night and Saturday night. And I think they're going to do it again tonight. And so if you have not been there and seen that you certainly need to go. You turn in right there. Um well they got two entrances but one of them was by the Sonic. And you just turn right in there and and they'll have somebody with flashlights directing you and they ask you to turn your car lights off so that it'll be dark and you then they have the lights on each scene as you drive through. But kudos to First Baptist Church for giving us such a great great show last night for the birth of Jesus in this Christmas season. It was absolutely wonderful. And of the birth of Jesus. So maybe y'all can come tonight. Uh I I guess it's from six to eight again. I don't not positive on that but I imagine it is. Talk to y'all later. We'll have good cornbread today. Bless you. Bye bye. Okay y'all. I got the cornbread out of the oven. I want you to look at it. And when I pulled it out this little part fell off into my pan over there. But that's okay y'all. All you just do is put it on there. Pat it down like that? And who's the wiser? Nobody. We're going to eat it anyway. It's going to be good tonight for my supper with some cornbread and milk. I might put buttermilk in mine. Do y'all ever do that? Okay. Y'all have a great day and I will see you soon. Bye bye.
