I needed some sun so I went and found it. It truly helped jumpstart my brain and it feels good to be feeling more myself again. New ideas and plans are starting to flow. I’ll be working on a pattern for this highly requested strawberry tablerunner last year 🍓. If you struggle with binding, here are some tips that help me: The technique shown above is my go-to for tablerunners and smaller projects. - I like to cut my strips for binding 2 1/4” or 2 1/2” wide. If my batting is thinner I go with the 2 1/4”. I don’t cut on the bias for straight edges. - I make a long continuous binding strip by sewing the ends together. I fold over one end for my starting point, and then tuck in the trimmed end when I reach my starting point. - stop sewing 1/4” away from the corners. Fold a little crease so you know where to stop. Then turn and sew diagonally off the corner. This is super helpful in getting a nice mitered corner. - sew from back to front- meaning sew the binding to the backside first and wrap around to the front for the finish. - I like to use an applique or blanket stitch to sew down the binding. Stitch in the ditch is also another option, but for beginners this technique can be intimidating and requires more precision. Back to front is more user friendly IMO. - don’t be too scared to try! Gone are the days you have to follow a certain technique. It really is about finding a way that yields the result you desire and you’re not pulling your hair out the whole time 😫 - create happiness one stitch at a time! Find satisfaction in the process. Learn, make mistakes and try again. I’ve done it a thousand times, literally 😅. Hope this is helpful! Remember, do what’s easiest for you! 🍓🍓🍓 #simplyeilene #sewing #sewingtips #tipsandtricks #quiltbinding #sewinglove #sewingforbeginners | Eilene Johnson | Forrest Frank · ALWAYS
