Granny Circle in a Square (Easy Beginners Pattern!) | granny square | How cute is this fab little twist on the traditional granny square? 🧶 | By Hooked by Robin | Today I am going to be showing you how to do this super cute granny circle in a square. So working into a magic ring you are first going to chain three. Which counts as your first double crochet. Then you are going to pop 11 more double crochets into this centre ring. So by the end of this round you will have eleven double crochets and your chain three which counts. So it'll be twelve stitches in total. So when you are done you might just want to count your stitches. Now this is quite fluffy fluffy yarn so it can be a little bit hard to see. So a good way is to count your Vs across the top. So you just want to make sure that you've got eleven double crochets and then that first chain three. And then you can pull your magic ring type. Don't do it all the way. Just pull it close a little bit. And then you're going to slip stitch to the top of your chain three. Just anywhere. Just you don't need to do it perfectly. Just slip stitch. And then leave yourself a generous tail. Snip off here because you're going to want to weave that in later. And you can pull that up and through. Then you can pull your magic ring closed. Like so. Now often when you're changing colour quite a lot like this you'll have lots of little sort of loops coming away. So what I like to do is before obviously you're going to weave them all in nice and neatly at the end but I like to just grab this tail and pull it through a couple of stitches. Just so it's less in the way. Don't know if you can see what I'm doing there. Oops. Throwing my hook around. So I just I'm popping my hook underneath the stitch and I'm just pulling that just so it's it's just kind of out of the way so it's more hanging at the back with these. And then you're going to bring in your next colour. Then you're going to attach your yarn. However you want I like to do a little quick slipknot. Pop my hook through any one of these. It doesn't matter. Just pick a stitch. Pop my hook through. And then bring it to the front and you're ready to start round two. So for round two you're going to chain three which counts as a stitch and then you're going to pop a double crochet into that exact same stitch where you just joined your yarn. Like so. And you're going to chain one and put two double crochets into the very next stitch. Chain one and you're going to do that all the way around into the top of each of your double crochets you're going to put two double crochet chain one two double crochet chain one two double crochet chain one and by the end of the round you'll have twenty-four double crochets with chain one spaces in between So as I'm approaching the end of the round here and you can see let's just do my last one. Into chain one. You're going to slip stitch to the top of that initial chain three. So not your double crochet but one, two, three up here. So I'm just going to slip stitch to here. But before you cut your yarn just double check that you've got twenty-four double crochets or if you prefer twelve sets of two all the way round. It's always worth just double checking your stitch count. Just in case you've missed one or in case you've got an extra one. Make sure you've only got twenty-four double crochets and when you're happy you've got the right amount of stitches then you can trim your yarn the blue out the way. Just pull up through. And then just like before I'm just going to weave that end using my hook under a couple of stitches just so that it doesn't come undone. That this isn't going to hold forever but it holds long enough holds long enough just so when you're working on it it's a bit more secure. At the end you will have to weave in with a needle these back ends. Okay so ready for round three. So I'm just going to grab a bit of extra yarn. Then just like before you're going to join your yarn however you usually join it. I just like to do it with a slip knot but you don't have to. And this time we're going to be working in between your clusters of two double crochet. So into the chain one space. So just pop your hook straight into a gap. So not the top of the stitches. Just the space. The chain one space. Then you're going to chain three which counts as your first double crochet. And then into that same space you're going to pop two double crochets. Chain one. And put three double crochets into the next chain one space. Chain one three double crochet into the next space so you're going to do this all the way around three double crochet into the chain one space from the round below and then chain one all the way round now we meet you back over here When you reach the end of your round don't forget you need that little extra chain one before you then slip stitch to the top of your original chain three. So just like we've done for the last couple of rounds just slip stitch Snippy on. Pull it up and then again just to hold it temporarily. Just going to weave that end under a couple of my stitches here. So you can see we're we're massing ends at a rate of knots back here. Okay so. You've got your circle. The next round is going to be making it square. If you are making a large blanket out of these circles, bit like the sample I showed in the intro like this. What I do is I make all my circle sections first. So I make all my circles and then I join using continuous join as you go. Now I've got a video for continuous join as you go on my channel. Um I'll link to that in the description below as well. And That's just the way I like to make my blankets. But I will now show you how to do this final cream round. So that if you don't want to do continuous joint as you go and you'd rather do a join as you go or you have a different preferred method. If you sew your squares together. If you like to crochet them together on the back. However you want to do it I'm going to show you how to do this final cream round. But it was just a quick heads up that if you are making a big blanket the quickest way is to make all your circles first weave in all your ends and then do continuous join as you go. Especially if you're joining all in the same colour. If you're not then ignore everything I've just said. Doesn't really apply. But so go ahead and make all your circles. And then when you are ready to do your final round this is how you do it. So just like before you're going to be joining in a new colour and again like for round three we're going to be working in between the clusters of your sort of granny clusters here. So you're going to be working into the spaces in between not the top of the stitches. And to start the squirrel is a little different. You're going to chain four Which counts as your first treble. USA treble. Not a UK one. USA treble. Into the same space you're going to work two trebles now for a treble yarn over twice before you go into the stitch then go in yarn over it back come back through and just like a double yarn over pull through two but keep going yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two so one more time yarn over twice then go into a stitch. Pull through two. Pull through two. Pull through two. So much taller stitches. Then you're going to chain three. So we're working our first corner. And into the same space you're going to put pop pop three more trebles. So yarn over twice to go in. So that is your first corner made. Then you're going to chain one. And we're going to go back to doing doubles so into the next space three double crochet chain on, and into the next space, three double crochet. Chain one then we are back oops then we're back to doing another corner so in the corner we're going to do three trebles chain three and three more trebles all into that same space So you can see these taller stitches. Bring it all in line. So you're bringing it narrow and you're going out wide again coming in narrow. So keep doing this all the way around. Chain one. Three double crochet. Chain one. Three double crochet. Chain one and then you're back at a corner which is three trebles. Chain three. Three trebles. All into the same space. Hair gets everywhere. And again for your next side chain one three double crochet chain one three double crochet chain one and then you're back to a corner which is three trebles chain three trebles And then back to the very last little section now. So I'm going to chain one. Three doubles. Chain one. Three doubles. Chain one. And then I'm going to slip stitch to the top of that initial chain four that you did. Did I already chain one? Yeah. I already chained one. So trouble with talking and crocheting at the same time. I lose track. So I'm going to slip stitch the top of my chain four. That's my slipknot. One, two, three, four. Cut my yarn. And that's it. I am done. So I really like the Circle in a square. It looks really pretty especially of a really large blanket. And it really makes this middle circles pop. So I hope that you enjoyed this really quick simple little project. Bye.

822K views · 9.5K reactions | Crochet Lemon Peel Stitch | Citrus ×limon, crocheting | How cute is the Lemon Peel Stitch?! I love it! | By Hooked by Robin | Today I'm going to show you how to crochet the very pretty lemon peel stitch. So to start we're going to pop a slipknot onto our hooks. Now the pattern multiple for the lemon peel stitch could not be easier. It is simply an even number. For the purposes of this tutorial I'm going to make a very small sample so I'm going to go ahead and chain ten. Once you have your chain of even numbers and you're ready to begin, chain one. Then into the second chain from your hook we're going to place a single crochet. Now this loop on your hook does not count as of a thing. You only want to count the completed chains hanging below. So one two and into the second chain here pop your single crochet. Double crochet into the next chain. Single crochet in the next. Double crochet into the next chain. You'll repeat this for the full length of the chain. Single crochet, double crochet. Single crochet, double crochet. All the way along. So because you chained an even number to start, you will always end on a double crochet in that very last chain. Alright, for row two and all subsequent rows, it's super simple. Chain one and turn your work. And then into the top of that double crochet, place a single crochet, right into that very first stitch. And then continue in exactly the same fashion. Double crochet in the next stitch. Single crochet in the one after that. And repeat this sequence all the way to the end. Your end with a double crochet to that very last stitch. Just make sure you turn your work slightly because it will be slightly rolled to the front. And you're done. Simply chain one, turn, single crochet, double, single, double, all the way to the end. Super simple, super fast and makes for fantastic, beautifully lightly textured projects. So I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial on the Lemon Peel Stitch and until next time. Happy crocheting. Bye.
