On this #IndependenceDay, we celebrate the pioneering spirit of the United States in advancing sustainability, from early scientific discoveries to innovative technologies. 🌍 Greenhouse Effect Concept: American geographer Thomas Trewartha coined the term in 1937, a crucial step in understanding climate change. 💡 First low-energy lightbulb: In 1938, George Inman and General Electric's scientists designed the first viable compact fluorescent lamp, paving the way for energy-efficient lighting. 🔆 First practical solar panels: a significant leap in renewable energy, they were developed by Bell Labs in 1954. As we honor these achievements, may we look forward to a future powered by innovation and sustainability! Bioplastics are emerging as an increasingly viable alternative to conventional plastics, offering the potential for minimized environmental impact. They come in three main types: 🌱 Bio-based: derived from plants and other renewable agricultural materials, they reduce reliance on fossil resources and lessen the carbon footprint. ♻️ Biodegradable: these materials break down naturally, thanks to microorganisms. Whether fossil-based, they leave a smaller environmental impact when disposed of properly. 🌱♻️ Combining qualities: some bioplastics possess both bio-based and biodegradable characteristics. Embracing technologies like these is crucial for fostering a greener and more environmentally conscious society! Source: European Bioplastics.

Bio-MPG exemplifies sustainable innovation, playing a key role in the production of green unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) — an essential component for a wide range of products. In the marine sector, UPR is utilized in the construction of boat hulls and decks, offering enhanced durability and resistance to water and environmental degradation. Similarly, this resin is employed in the manufacturing of lightweight, strong, and durable car parts, such as body panels, hoods, and bumpers. The journey of plastic production from 1950 to 2022 highlights a dramatic increase, with global output reaching 382 million tonnes per year. Initially celebrated for its versatility and cost-effectiveness, as the industry moves forward, the balance between leveraging the benefits of plastics and addressing environmental sustainability will be crucial. That’s why Sustainea is committed to play a role to shift how plastic is consumed. By enhancing the efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness of plant-based alternatives, we can reduce the environmental impact of plastic production. Through collaboration with manufacturers, advocacy, and consumer education, we are paving the way for a greener future, where plant-based plastics contribute significantly to global efforts against pollution and climate change. #Sustainea #Sustainability #WhoIsSustainea
