We ended our conference with several lessons learned, we absorbed cultures, ways of thinking and rethinking “What does serving mean”. Our cosmological perceptions cross us and directly influence our way of designing solutions for the universe and for the world of design. See you at the next ServDes ❤️ A special thank you to our conference chairs: Carla Cipolla, COPPE / UFRJ Manuela Quaresma, D.Sc., DAD/PUC-Rio Luis Alt, Livework

Visual culture can enrich service design processes and is an essential component thereof. Moreover, based on the multiple and situated references that visual culture can bring, it promotes self-recognition among individuals and their connection with the ecosystem. What is Service Design and what is the connection with care, territories or relationships? We have been learning and discussing a lot abou this in ServDes.2023 Daniella Sangiorgi, Ezio Manzini (Politecnico di Milano) and Gabriel Orsi (COPPE/UFRJ) explained how they understand this relationship and how co-creating with the community is important for the success of service design projects.

What can we export in terms of service design from Brazil to other countries in the world? Luis Alt explained to us the possibilities in relation to the Brazilian cultural specificities, thinking about the provision of service in the design. Check it out!

At Tuesday the activities of ServDes.2023 officially started in Rio de Janeiro. Keynotes, technical sessions, dialogues and workshops will feed exchanges and discussions around different aspects of service design. We hope that after this journey, our participants can have a better understanding of a fundamental question: “What does serving mean?”

The first day of ServDes.2023 focused on how the complexity and diversity of Brazil and other countries contribute to a better experience in service design. DESIS Forum happened in a format where people from different countries exchanged about service design projects around the world and its specificities and innovations It sure was a great experience for everyone who watched it. We had the participation of a big list of people like: • Ralitsa Debrah (Ghana) • Carla Cipolla (Brazil) • Joyce Yee (UK) • Joon Baek, Jung Lee, Eun Yu (Singapore and South Korea • Fang Zhong (China) • Connor Smith (United States) • Nicola Morelli (Denmark) • Annalinda De Rosa, Francesco Vergani (Italy)
