Signe and Thomas are two equally self-absorbed individuals in a relationship, neither of them without much ambition. However, when Thomas has an unexpected breakthrough with his art, Signe finds herself sidelined from the limelight. This blow to her ego simply will not do. Soon Signe will begin abusing just about any method in order to claw back some of the attention herself.

Kristoffer Borgli’s self-proclaimed unromantic comedy skewers the narcissistic gaze of the modern age in a pitch-black tone that is as uncomfortable to watch as it is amusing. Kristine Kujath Thorp gives a masterclass in creating an unlikeable yet compelling lead in Signe whose ever more outrageous actions will make you scream at the screen. Destined to be remembered amongst the genre greats such as ‘Toni Erdmann’, ‘The Square’ and this year’s ‘Triangle of Sadness’, ‘Sick of Myself’ is the best comedy of discomfort you’ll see this year.
