She would know the world of vengeful gods and monsters, and the lengths one would go for love. And nothing would ever be the same for her again.
Gifted thief Romeria steals jewels under a notorious New York City crime boss. But when an enigmatic woman secures her services at swordpoint, Romeria is wrenched from this world and transported into a realm of opposing thrones, warring elven societies, and elemental magic.
Waking up in the body of a treacherous elven princess, Romeria quickly realizes she's entangled in a deadly plot and must hide her identity at all costs - not least from the princess's betrothed, King Zander, who detests her. Romeria is forced to play the smitten princess as the unwilling pair work together to uncover the danger that surrounds them.
But with their enemies closing in - and as she fights her growing feelings for the king - it's time for Romeria to find out who she truly is.

Wow!
This book was AMAZING!! I wish there was more hype surrounding it like ACOTAR and Fourth Wing. It was the perfect mix of fantasy and romance!!! So many twists and turns. I’m excited to start the next one!!
Like nothing else
You know that feeling when you finish an amazing book? Like that hollow feeling of loss and the burn to read what comes next?
I’ve been chasing that feeling since I was in middle school. I’m 24. I finally found it again. I wish I could give this review with infinite stars instead of 5 because 5 just is nowhere near enough.
I write this review after having finished the third book in this series, the fourth doesn’t come out until a year from now. I’m going to be counting down the minutes every moment between now and then.
Seriously.
There’s nothing I don’t love about these books.
The characters? AMAZINGLY WRITTEN.
The author knows how to focus in and really develop the key characters, gives us fantastic side characters without going so deeply into their stories that you get bored with the distraction from the plot. The main characters are mature, smart (so, so, SO hard to find main characters that aren’t just straight up annoying in their naivety and/or mannerisms) and so believable and understandable. I cannot stress this enough.
The world? JUST WOW
I can’t wrap my mind around the genius of K. A. Tucker but if she writes a single other fantasy book I will be purchasing immediately. The mystery, the dynamics between peoples, the magic… just. Wow.
The plot? SO PERFECTLY LAID OUT
I don’t even think I need to go into this because that’s the simple truth but I’ve seen some reviews about how slow the first part of the book is and I can agree, but know that if you give up on this book because you don’t understand where it’s heading yet and you can’t find the patience in yourself to go further… for shame. And truly your loss.
I never write reviews, or if I have I can’t recall. That alone is a testament to how strongly I feel. This series has taken over my number one spot for best books I’ve ever read. Ever.
Read. These. Books.
SO GOOD
it took me a while to get into it because i had no idea what was going on at first. but once i had envisioned myself as Romy, and began to learn with her, the book was easier to understand and get into. around page 200ish? things became a lot clearer. it was definitely worth the confusion at the beginning. it is a great story with a great ending. i’m excited to read the second
book
