Natalie Butlin will be rejoining Bookouture in early July in the newly created role of Creative Insights Director. Butlin was previously at Bookouture between 2015 and early 2023, during which time she moved from a Commissioning Editor role to head up Bookouture’s commercial analysis team. She left Bookouture to join Storm in early 2023 in the role of Editorial and Commercial Insight Director.

In her new role, Butlin will report to Bookouture MD Jenny Geras, who said of her return: ‘Natalie’s contribution to Bookouture has been significant and enduring. In addition to acquiring and publishing a number of her own bestsellers, she was absolutely fundamental in shaping our processes, changing and improving so much of our copy and packaging, analysing the market and driving forward strategic and commercial decisions which have been transformative for the business. She is rejoining us at a time of incredible growth and expansion, and I very much look forward to working with her again.’

Natalie Butlin said:

‘I am so excited to be returning to Bookouture for this dream role. I was privileged to help build Bookouture from its very early days and push it to its incredible heights, and I can’t wait to get back to working alongside a team I admire so much.’

In addition, Bookouture has promoted Marina Valles to the role of Head of Digital Operations. Valles joined Bookouture in 2020 as Digital Operations Assistant, becoming Digital Operations Manager in July 2022. During her time at Bookouture, she has transformed the company’s distribution processes and automations, as well as immersing herself in accessibility innovations and challenges. She is currently recruiting for a third member of her growing operations team.

Bookouture has also made three new Commissioning Editor hires, with Bonnie MacLeod joining from One More Chapter, Cerys Hadwin-Owen joining from Hodder Education and Verena Stanusch, who is based in Germany, joining the Translations publishing team.
