AUTHOR: Joshua Kueh

Joshua Kueh is a reference librarian for Southeast Asia in the Asian Division of the Library of Congress, where he covers topics on Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Timor Leste. Prior to his arrival at the Library of Congress in 2019, he taught courses on Southeast Asian history and Asian Studies at Georgetown University and The Catholic University of America. Joshua received his doctorate in trans-regional history from Georgetown University and MA in Spanish from University of Virginia. His research interests include subjects connected to migration and the state, inter-communal relationships, narratives of empire, and trade networks in Southeast Asia. He has published articles in the Journal of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society and Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints. More recently he has been learning about Malay manuscripts and printing in Southeast Asia, as well as Mangyan writing traditions.
