LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 08: Novak Djokovic of Serbia addresses the crowd on Centre Court wishing them a 'good night' following victory against Holger Rune of Denmark in his Gentlemen's Singles fourth round match during day eight of The Championships Wimbledon 2024 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 08, 2024 in London, England. Novak Djokovic overcame a raucous crowd cheering for his opponent, Holger Rune, en route to a straight-set victory in the Round of 16 at Wimbledon on Monday.

Afterward, Djokovic let the crowd, whose "Rune" chants could have been construed as boos, know how he felt.

"For all the people that were respectful, a good night. For all the people who tried to disrespect me...a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD night," Djokovic said. "I know they are cheering from Rune, but that's just an excuse for also boo me."

Djokovic also closed by saying: "I've played in much more hostile environments, trust me. You guys can't touch me."

No one touched him on Monday, as Djokovic won 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 to cruise into a quarterfinal matchup with Alex de Minaur.

Perhaps Djokovic was channeling Michael Jordan here, taking any perceived slight and using it as fuel to dominate his opponent. Or maybe he legitimately felt disrespected in that moment.

Either way, Djokovic is barreling toward his 25th Grand Slam singles title, which would be the most all time for women or men. Right now, he's tied with Margaret Court atop that list at 24 apiece.

Of course, winning Wimbledon won't be easy. De Minaur beat Djokovic earlier this year at the United Cup. Taylor Fritz stands a potential semifinal opponent after upsetting No. 4 Alexander Zverev in five sets. The other half of the bracket features three of the top five seeds in Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.

But if a supremely motivated Djokovic plays like he did Monday, he will be very hard to beat.
