Novak Djokovic Draws Rave Reviews from Fans in Win vs. Holger Rune at 2024 Wimbledon
July 8, 2024Novak Djokovic is off to the Wimbledon quarterfinals, and without much resistance.
The 2-seed easily dismissed Holger Rune in straight sets on Monday, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, setting up a matchup with 9-seed Alex De Minaur on Wednesday.
Rune had quite a bit of support in the Wimbledon crowd, which Djokovic appeared to enjoy quieting:

This was vintage Djokovic. He didn't allow Rune to earn a single break, and only gave up two break-point opportunities in the entire match. He had five aces to Rune's three, 21 winners to Rune's 15 and 22 unforced errors to Rune's 29.
He won 29 of his 37 net-point attempts and an impressive 72 percent of his second serves (21-of-29).
His dominance was lauded on social media after the match:

Djokovic has reached the quarterfinals rather comfortably, dropping just two sets in four matches to this point. In the second round, Jacob Fearnley took a set off him, while in the third round, Alexei Popyrin surprisingly claimed the first set before Djokovic handled business from there.
Djokovic noted that his surgically repaired right knee has impacted his mobility thus far at Wimbledon.
"I do feel that has an impact on my movement a little bit in terms of the speed," he told reporters on Sunday. "It's not yet there where I want it to be. Kind of late on the balls that I'm normally not late on."
It didn't seem to be hampering him much on Monday.
