Conor McGregor has a significant wager on Saturday night's boxing match between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

The UFC star bet $500,000 on Diaz to win the fight, he said on social media ahead of the matchup. McGregor cited a few reasons why he picked Diaz and also said his payout for a win would be $1,625,000.

"I've decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight's boxing match," McGregor said in the post. "Range, form, experience, solely hands being used, I can't see Masvidal causing any problems to Nate in a boxing ring whatsoever."

I've decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight's boxing match. Range, form, experience, solely hands being used, I can't see Masvidal causing any problems to Nate in a boxing ring whatsoever. They are both little play around dipshits in a fight, play around bollox, but I…

McGregor is familiar with Diaz's fighting style as the two have faced off twice in the past. McGregor lost the first fight at UFC 196 in 2016 via submission but defeated Diaz later that year in a majority decision at UFC 202.

But the matchup between Diaz and Masvidal on Saturday will be different as the two step into the boxing ring.

Both Diaz and Masvidal have limited professional boxing experience as Diaz's only fight came in 2023 when he lost to Jake Paul and Masvidal's last fight was in 2005, a win against Joseph Benjamin.

Diaz's last fight was his bout against Paul, while his last UFC appearance was in 2022. Masvidal last fought in 2023 when he lost to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

The two fighters have met before for an MMA fight, so Saturday's matchup will be a rematch of sorts, though in a different sport. In 2019 at UFC 244, Masvidal defeated Diaz after a doctor's stoppage. Still, McGregor views Diaz as the favorite.
