Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2: Odds, Live Stream, Pick for UFC Legends' Boxing Fight

Former UFC rivals Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will rekindle their rivalry in a boxing ring. The two former MMA stars will test their boxing skills against one another on a pay-per-view card Saturday night from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Diaz and Masvidal were two of the biggest draws for the UFC during their time with the organization. Now, they will see if that drawing power can transfer over to boxing as they anchors a pay-per-view that also includes a super middleweight bout between Daniel Jacobs and Shane Mosley Jr.

Diaz and Masvidal's paths collided when they met at UFC 244. Masvidal beat Diaz with a third-round doctor stoppage TKO to win the promotional "BMF" belt in 2019.

Preview

While both men were known for their striking in their MMA heydays, there isn't much boxing experience between the two of them.

Both have just one professional boxing match on their ledger. Masvidal earned a four-round majority decision win over Joseph Benjamin back in 2005. Diaz lost his only official bout with a 10-round unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul in 2023.

There's obviously nothing to glean from Masvidal's one fight. It was nearly 20 years ago and Masvidal has come a long way as a mixed martial artist in that time. It would be safe to assume that he's a much better boxer at this point.

After all, his boxing debut wasn't that far removed from his days as a street fighter.

We're also well past his prime at this point. Masvidal walked away from the UFC on the heels of a four-fight losing streak, including a unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns in April 2023.

Diaz, on the other hand, was at least 2-3 over his final five fights with the UFC. He beat Tony Ferguson with a fourth-round submission victory before hitting free agency and putting on the boxing gloves with Jake Paul.

He didn't look all that great in that bout. Paul dropped him in Round 5 en route to a convincing decision loss.

Prediction

There's always some guesswork in just how an MMA fighter's striking game will translate in the ring. The dynamics of a boxing fight and the inability to throw any other strikes changes the game enough.

However, we've seen Diaz box recently. He was praised for his unorthodox boxing style as an MMA fighter, but he was fairly sloppy in the loss to Paul.

We do also know that he's an incredibly tough fighter to actually knockdown or even knockout.

Assuming Masvidal can use his size and strength to bully Diaz a bit and defend himself against Diaz's power punches, he should be able to win it on the cards.
