Rain just can't seem to stay away from Wimbledon.

Weather conditions temporarily halted play for the third straight day, forcing the postponement of a few matches to tomorrow.

In the men's draw, top seed Jannik Sinner did just enough to defeat Matteo Berrettini, while Carlos Alcaraz breezed past his opponent in three sets.

In the bottom half of the women's draw, No. 2 seed Coco Gauff earned a straight-set victory, while Naomi Osaka fell to Emma Navarro.

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 03: Jannik Sinner of Italy plays a backhand against Matteo Berrettini of Italy in his Gentlemen's Singles second round match during day three of The Championships Wimbledon 2024 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 03, 2024 in London, England. After three hours, 46 minutes, and four sets—three of which were tiebreakers—it was world No. 1 Jannik Sinner who survived the all-Italian showdown with Matteo Berrettini.

Berrettini's play was reminiscent of 2021, when he reached the Wimbledon final.

The former world No. 6 hit 28 aces and over 70% on first serve, at times holding pivotal leads in the match.

Despite the moments of opportunity, Berrettini learned what perhaps every other player has against Sinner, particularly this year: It takes a herculean effort to beat the world No. 1.

In victory, Sinner earned his 40th win of the year in 43 tries and remains the firm favorite to hoist this year's trophy.

Tommy Paul Narrowly Survives, Casper Ruud Grass Struggles Continue

Tommy Paul nearly fell to Otto Virtanen, needing five sets to defeat the tricky qualifier.

The top American seed struggled at times, but when it mattered most, he delivered with his powerful forehand.

While Paul was able to avoid what would have been a massive upset, other players, such as Casper Ruud, were not.

Despite Ruud's lack of success on grass, he was still the firm favorite to defeat 37-year-old Fabio Fognini.

Instead, Ruud fell in four sets, marking the third straight year in which he was unable to advance past the second round of Wimbledon.

Coco Gauff Is the Clear Favorite in the Bottom Half of the Women's Draw

Coco Gauff has been absolutely dominant in her first two matches.

The 20-year-old has dropped a total of six games and won 35 of 41 points from first serve.

The American's draw is completely open, with the earliest possible match against a ranked opponent in the fourth round.

Gauff's chances of making it to the quarterfinal round are very strong, where a potential matchup against Madison Keys or Jasmine Paolini awaits.
