Former UFC fighter Geane Herrera died on Saturday due to a fatal motorcycle crash in Florida.

According to TMZ Sports, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles revealed that the incident occurred in Tampa at roughly 10:45 p.m. ET. Herrera reportedly crashed into the back of another vehicle at a "very high rate of speed" before subsequently striking a concrete barrier.

Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the vehicle that was struck was unharmed.

"Geane was full of life, always trying to live life to the fullest, he was a dedicated athlete with big dreams of making a difference and leaving his print in this world," Herrera's family said on a GoFundMe page that was set up on Sunday to cover funeral costs (h/t TMZ Sports). "He was such a happy-go-lucky person that left a mark in everyone that came into his life."

"Geane leaves behind a 16 year-old son, his 3-month pregnant girlfriend, mother, father, sisters, a brother and a family that loves him and will deeply miss him," the family added.

He started his professional MMA career in 2011 before eventually making it to the UFC in 2015. After his final UFC fight in 2016, the flyweight finished his career with a record of 9-3.

Herrera also participated in multiple BKFC fights, with his latest occurring in November 2022.
