Former UFC fighter Nate Diaz turned himself in to New Orleans police Thursday morning after being charged with second-degree battery following a street fight last weekend.

"Nate voluntarily turned himself into the New Orleans Police Department this morning approximately at 7:10 a.m. CT. We continue to look forward to presenting all the evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense," Diaz's rep Zach Rosenfield said in a statement, per MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.

Video of an altercation between Diaz and YouTuber Rodney Petersen went viral over the weekend, depicting the former MMA star seemingly choking Petersen out. The video shows Petersen initially approaching Diaz before being placed in a chokehold.

In a subsequent video released after the altercation, Petersen threatened to "knock [Diaz] the f--k out."

"I don't know what the hell I did to Nate Diaz," Petersen said in the video. "But I'm telling you what, I'm gonna knock him the f--k out when I know he's coming. You caught me off guard, dude. What did you think I was, Logan?"

Diaz, who fought in UFC from 2007 until 2022, is set to fight Jake Paul in a boxing match later this year. It will mark his first professional boxing match.
