𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 - 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫! 🎢 PAF laureates, alumni and candidates share what it feels like to go abroad on a PAF-journey. Annelies Vanderwaeren’s first arrival in Nairobi was an especially impactful moment. Under her PAF-grant, she joined the Hydrobox team in Kenya, and their mission to bring power to a million people by 2027. And as a real change maker, Annelies even decided to stay! PAF is more than a grant. It is the start of a journey of challenges and innovation, of fruitful collaborations and new insights. Soon we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our Fund, where we hope to share many more stories of our alumni and laureates with you! #paf #princealbertfund #innovation #paf40

🇺🇸🤠a year full of adventure, friendship and surprises is how our recent graduate Mathilde Genard describes her Paf year in Texas. In 2022 she swapped Brussels for Houston to work on a strategic Merger of EverZinc. A challenging role in which she succeeded brilliantly…. leading to a fulltime position at the company today. Congrats Mathilde! #paf40

A few weeks ago, Prince Albert Fund (KBF) hosted its annual Laureate ceremony in presence of HRH Princess Astrid. I received the Laureate distinction for conducting a one year project in international business for the company EverZinc. In September 2022, I took on a cross functional role within EverZinc and worked on coordinating projects linked to our recent merger, in Houston, Texas. Beyond the professional experience, it was also a chance to be immersed in the American & Texan culture, which created a year full of adventures, friendship and surprises. Thanks to EverZinc for the rewarding challenge, for providing all the support and fostering a collaborative environment. Almost 2 years later, I am happy to say that I am still part of the team, working on special projects in Belgium. I also want to thank Prince Albert Fund and Kristel Van den Bergh for this incredible opportunity which will for sure have lasting impacts on my career. #PrinceAlbertFund #EverZinc #Laureate #PAF40

#𝐏𝐀𝐅𝟒𝟎: 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬!  Listen to Katrien Herdewyn's story! In 2017 she decided to pause her own company, apply for PAF and move to San Francisco with AGC Group. She made this pivot to get inspired by the culture of innovation in Sillicon Valley, extend her network and learn from working in a larger company. After 12 months, Katrien decided to stay in San francisco and continued on her own entrepreneurial path with her design company Elegnano. To this day, Katrien remains an engaged PAF ambassador who recently joined our PAF board to represent the entrepreneurial community. 🙏 💫 👉 Podcast link: https://lnkd.in/eu9xR4XT (Min 44:26 on PAF) #PAF40 #entrepreneurs #rolemodel

    Founder at Elegnano | Belgium's 40 under 40 | Inspiring 50 Europe

Last week, I was asked to reflect on the 3 main pivotal moments in my 10 years as an entrepreneur for the Connexi podcast. One turning point immediately came to mind: receiving the Prince Albert Fund (KBF) (PAF) in 2017. The one-year grant got me to San Francisco and opened the door to a whole new world of opportunities. In the podcast, I elaborate in more detail on why it was such a pivotal point for me, as a person, as an entrepreneur, and for Elegnano. As impactful as the grant was, learning about the existence of PAF for me was a happenstance: It came up during a conversation about shoes with Bieke Claes. There is no way of knowing where I would be if she never shared that with me. One conversation, one podcast, maybe even one LinkedIn post... sharing opportunities is one of the most powerful things you can do. Thank you Bert Vandebuerie for the open and fun conversation! Listen to the full podcast episode (only in Dutch) with all 3 of the turning points in my decade as an entrepreneur on your favorite channel (link in comments) #PAF40 #onceinalifetime #connexi

It's no surprise that for many years, the grant was dubbed "𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒌𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕". Now, as we celebrate our 40th anniversary, it's time to broaden our reach and make PAF the “𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚.” Over the coming weeks, we'll be showcasing the unique, life-changing stories of our alumni from 1984 to 2024, highlighting how over 550 lives have been transformed. Our Managing Director, Kristel Van den Bergh, has already set the stage—join this wave of inspiration by sharing your unique PAF experiences using #PAF40.

💫 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 In 2011, I was sitting at my consultancy desk when a farewell email from my ex-colleague Bernard Nobels opened a door I never knew existed.  He wrote: “𝐷𝑒𝑎𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑔𝑢𝑒𝑠, 𝐼’𝑚 𝑜𝑓𝑓 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑈𝑆𝐴 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑎𝑢𝑛𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑦 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑡-𝑢𝑝 𝑣𝑖𝑎 𝑎 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝  𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 Prince Albert Fund (KBF)” “𝐴 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑃𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑒- 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡-𝐹𝑢𝑛𝑑?!” - I was intrigued.. so I googled, applied… and it changed my life—𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞. First, in 2013, it catapulted me into a Chinese adventure within the 3D printing industry with Materialise in Shanghai, bypassing my non-technical background. Living in China was an unforgettable experience filled with friendship, surprises, highs and lows which all made me grow. Nearly a decade later, PAF brought me full circle as I was honoured to become MD of the Fund itself, joining forces with the King Baudouin Foundation. Working with this unique community energises me every day 🙏! Since 1984, every year new PAF talents join us. Every story is a journey into new cultures, Belgian innovations, and personal challenges, reinforcing the value of our mission. Each story is also a testament to why we must share opportunities widely. As I sit back at my desk today, I realize how close I came to missing Bernard's email—and with it, the two most transformative turns in my career. Last week, 𝟐𝟕 𝐏𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐒 flew back from all corners of the world where they’ve spent 12 months leading entrepreneurial assignments for Belgian companies. They were honoured for their achievements with their PAF diplomas by 𝐇𝐑𝐇 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝 during our annual ceremony hosted at the VBO FEB (Federation of Entreprises in Belgium). 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝, alumnus of 1994, looked back at his own PAF adventure 30 years ago and shared his leadership insights on succeeding at external and personal transformation. We are extremely proud of the laureates who exemplify the power of #personaldevelopment and a strong collaborative spirit in achieving remarkable milestones. 💥 A heartfelt thank you to all laureates, companies, speakers... all changemakers! 🎉 As the 40th anniversary of our Fund approaches, we're gearing up for a spectacular celebration. Big news! The PAF jury met last Friday and selected the next cohort of promising young professionals whose lives are about to take a big step abroad in the next 12 months! 🙌 Here are 3 things to cheer about in the cohort of 2024: 💡 Persistence pays off! 70% of the new candidates had never applied before, while 30% had also applied last year. Takeaway: if at first you don't succeed, don't give up! 30% of this year's cohort are living proof that a second attempt is worth a try. We also give unselected candidates feedback to guide their future improvement. 💡 Diverse study backgrounds are welcome! 60% of the cohort come from business engineering and applied economics backgrounds, a classic choice for international business development jobs. But 40% come from other fields: engineering, law, political sciences, sustainable science and psychology. You don't need a business degree to be a successful PAFer! 💡 Belgium represent! With a 50% split between Dutch-speaking and French-speaking (or bilingual) candidates, PAF is proud to represent Belgium's linguistic diversity. Moreover, 13% of the candidates have at least one parent who comes from outside of the EU, highlighting one more facet of Belgian diversity. Huge thanks to the PAF jury for their hard work and unwavering support, and huge congratulations to the cohort of 2024! Looking forward to introducing them all here soon 🥳 #PAF40 #PAFgrant #businessdevelopmentjobs #grantopportunity #internationalbusiness #youngprofessionals
